XS 111 has a civilian registration G-TIMM. The aircraft is painted in its original red arrows colours of all over red, with classic red, white and blue markings on the tail and a small Union Jack to represent the United Kingdom across the world.
Its original serial number was XP504 (Construction Number FL519), built by Folland at their Hamble factory in 1962 and first flew on 6th September 1962. It was accepted into RAF service on 21st December 1962, serving at RAF Valley with No4 Flying Training School (FTS). It underwent various modifications and continued flying with 4FTS until 1979, before being used as a training airframe at RAF Halton.
G-TIMM spent most of its post-RAF life wearing a silver training scheme with yellow bands and wearing the serial XM693, and was repainted again, now representing Ray Hanna's aircraft - XS111 - from when he was the original Red Arrows team leader. |
